Algernon Cadwallader - Some Kind Of Cadwallader

Hello. Time for some more good music. I hope you enjoyed the last album I posted, I sure did.
Now, if you've been following the blog for a little while you probably know that I'm a sucker for emo (especially 90's) and screamo, and so it is time for some more emo.
This is a good album. Very good. But unfortunately I just recently discovered this and so it's too late to put it on my aoty 2009 list. But what the hell, I'm posting it now.
What I love about these guys are that they sound just like Cap'n Jazz, and since Cap'n Jazz split-up quite early they didn't have time release a lot of material. So this kind of like a reunion in a way, I guess.
And when I say they sound like Cap'n Jazz, I really mean they sound like Cap'n Jazz. I actually checked their MySpace to make sure that it wasn't in fact Tim Kinsella doing the vocals, because they sound scarily similar. Same goes for the instrumentals; nice 90's emo revival guitar work, very "twinkly" and melodic, kind of like a mix between Cap'n Jazz and American Football (minus the sad/depressing stuff). It's really upbeat and happy sounding stuff, so none of that gloomy American Football-esque kind of emo. These guys are Cap'n Jazz 2.0.

They've got a new 7" coming out soon with an included CD containing 6 previously unreleased tracks. I'm thinking about pre-ordering it, and if I do and you like this album, I could rip itfor ya and upload it in flac or v0 mp3 or whatever. Here's a link if you're interested in ordering: http://www.banquetrecords.com/search.jsp?query=algernon

Honestly, the first tiem I listened to this I didn't really like it, it just felt kinda "meh", you know? But the second time around...wow. I guess you could say it was love at....umm....second listen?
Anyway, check it out, amazing stuff.

Oh, and I almost forgot; it's awesome.

Snowing - Fuck Your Emotional Bullshit

All righty, here's a new album for today. Snowing is an up-and-coming (and very awesome) emo/indie rock band (with hints of post-hardcore and math rock). They've recently released an EP for FREE! It's a great six song EP and it's just you know, awesome. Reminds me of bands like Mineral, Hightide Hotel (I posted a split of theirs earlier, here). I don't know what more to say than that it's an incredible release and you should definitely check it out. Now, I don't want to rant (again), but please don't confuse real emo (like this) with shitty "emo" shit like Death Cab For Cutie, Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance. So just check it out, if you're an indie rock/pop fan and have not listened to real emo like this before, you're probably going to love it.

Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone!

You feel like dancing? No? Well, you're going to very soon. This album is just awesome, and it makes you want to dance, but at the same time you want to sit down and just enjoy the music. Dananananaykroyd (yeah, I know) plays a genre called "fight pop". It may sound ridiculous, but once you start listening to it, it will suddenly make a lot more sense. If I were to define it I would say it's an perfect blend of really upbeat indie pop and (post-)hardcore. I guess it sounds kind of math poppy at times too, but mainly it sounds more indie pop influenced. So, yeah. Just fucking download it. You won't regret it, and after all we only live once, right?
DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE ALBUM I POSTED EARLIER, GODDAMMIT!

Aloha - Sugar

Hey, back with the second album, I thought I'd try to post one (maybe even two albums) a day as a sort of routine. This time it's "Sugar" by Aloha, a great (actually I've only heard this one album, maybe the other ones suck?) "indie" rock/pop band. Anyway, all the songs are really catchy and well-written, so it's basically just a great album. Not much more to say. If you're fan of stuff like This Town Needs Guns, Joan Of Arc, Owen, etc. (they actually sound a bit like a mix of these guys) you should probably give it a listen.
