Dananananaykroyd - Hey Everyone!

You feel like dancing? No? Well, you're going to very soon. This album is just awesome, and it makes you want to dance, but at the same time you want to sit down and just enjoy the music. Dananananaykroyd (yeah, I know) plays a genre called "fight pop". It may sound ridiculous, but once you start listening to it, it will suddenly make a lot more sense. If I were to define it I would say it's an perfect blend of really upbeat indie pop and (post-)hardcore. I guess it sounds kind of math poppy at times too, but mainly it sounds more indie pop influenced. So, yeah. Just fucking download it. You won't regret it, and after all we only live once, right?
DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE ALBUM I POSTED EARLIER, GODDAMMIT!

Funeral Diner - The Underdark

Yeah, since I haven't posted in like two days now I'm just gonna post two extra albums, starting with this one. I hope you like screamo, 'cause that's what this is. If you haven't listened to screamo, then it's about time you do so, it's a fantastic genre. Screamo is often a very misunderstood genre, with people thinking bands like Underoath and Alexisonfire are screamo, when that is not the case, has led to many people dismissing real screamo (like Funeral Diner, Orchid, Saetia, Pg.99, Hot Cross) as scene shit. Real screamo is sounds more like hardcore, but with more melodic, harmonized guitars, actual screams (not like shouts in hardcore), emotional lyrics and often post-/math-rock (and sometimes grindcore) influences. So basically this is just an awesome REAL screamo album from an awesome REAL screamo-band.

This is scene "screamo"
This is real screamo

Burial - Untrue

Hey there. So since I didn't post an album yesterday I'm going to post two today, starting with this album. This album is really great and quite unique. Burial plays his own, very original mix of what I would say complex dubstep with r'n'b and ambient elements. Not too mention that it has vocals on every song as well. With all these "ingredients" it makes a it very refreshing escape from the regular dubstep you'd normally hear (you know; "wob wob wob wob boom wob wob wob wob tsssh wob wob wob wob", etc. being repeated over and over again). Even if you're not a big d'n'b/dubstep fan I'm pretty sure you will enjoy this anyway. Awesome album. Check it out for sure.

Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

What you see before you right now is the cover of what is probably the greatest hip-hop album in existence. Ever. This is genius. Deltron 3030 is a supergroup consisting of producer Dan the Automator, MC Del Tha Funkee Homosapien (fuck yes) and last but not least DJ Kid Koala. Jesus fucking christ. The production on this album is flawless. The DJing is flawless. Del Tha Funkee Homosapien is just as awesome as always; ridiculous flow, incredible rhymes with a verbal versatility changellenged by very few. The overall concept on this album is the future, or to be more specific, the year 3030. It has a very futuristic and epic soundscape but still retains that amazing alt hip-hop sound one would hear in Del's solo work. If you do not have this album, FUCKING DOWNLOAD IT NOW. Btw, this shit is way better than Jazz Hop Soul (my first post), and that album is still fucking fantastic.

Amps For Christ - Circuits

Time some for hipster garbage! No but seriously, this is album is awesome. And very weird. The most fitting description would be experimental folk I guess. They shift genre back and forth the whole album, but it's still folk at it's core. Oh and did I mention it sounds really experimental? Yeah, I guess I did. Not much more to say. Strange, yet awesome and very enjoyable. Check it the fuck out.

The Rural Alberta Advantage - Hometowns

All right, today's album is an album that I actually listened to and loved about five or six months ago, but had almost forgot about it until today. It was released this summer, so I'd listened to a leak. Anyway, this is an absolutely fantastic album. Sounds a bit like a modernized Neutral Milk Hotel I guess you could say. I don't know what more to say than that it's simply brilliant from start to finish, the songs are catchy as hell with both male and female vocals and very well performed/produced. So, yeah, you should probably take some of your very valuable time and sit down and listen to this masterpiece. Also, these guys are from Canada (it just seems that almost all great music this decade has come from Canada).

Between The Buried And Me - The Great Misdirect

Oh yeeeah! This album right here is some fresh meat, leaked only a little over 24 hours ago. If you have not heard of BTBAM before, they are an incredibly talented and awesome progressive metal band with a style that sounds basically like a perfectly balanced mix between prog metal giants Opeth and Dream Theater, but they've personalised it and they incorporate a broad range range of musical styles on their albums, while still at the core being prog metal. And this album is no exception. I've only listened to it once yet, but I think it sounds pretty awesome. Maybe not as great as Colors, but still great. The 18 FUCKING MINUTE EPIC that is the last song is also the best song on the album in my opinion. Overall, the whole album is very eclectic and shifts back and forth between different styles and genres. It's also not really an easy listen as the songs are very long (like they should be in prog). So, basically, it's just another great album from Between The Buried And Me.

Circusbreaker - Objective Facts Concerning Destruction

Yes, yes. The album for today is a strange, yet awesome one. Circusbreaker seems to be a very obscure artist (only like 70 listeners on last.fm). This album sounds like something Merzbow and Sabrepulse would have done if they collaborated while tripping balls on acid. Sound awesome? It fucking is. This guy is just criminally underrated, and this album is insane. All fans of electronic music (especially the "extreme" stuff like breakcore/noise/glitch), should check this out. Incredible.

Jazz Thieves - Pushin' Wax

Hello again. I wasn't going to post another album today, until i stumbled upon this little pearl. Best drum 'n' bass I've heard in a long while. It's some really awesome liquid funk d'n'b with nice funk and soul samples blended perfectly with the beat. Any d'n'b fan should really check this out ASAP. And it's only a two song EP or demo or whatever, so it'll be a fast download. But don't forget my other post!

Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs - Mass Of The Fermenting Dregs

Oh hello. Today I have an awesome, japanese, all-girl post-punk/shoegaze band for you. They also have the lovely japanese habit of typing FUCKING EVERYTHING IN CAPS. Anyway, album's pretty awesome; nice vocals, lovely instrumentation, very good. And no, you will not turn into a weeaboo for listening to this album. I may not sound so enthusiastic about this album, but it really is amazing. Definitely check it out. Peace.

Tegan and Sara - Sainthood

Yay! It's the new Tegan and Sara album! Ok, I know this has been out for a while, and I should have posted it earlier, but I just haven't had time to listen to it. Now that I know how great it is I can post it. See? So if you're a huge Tegan and Sara fan (like me), YOU MUST GET THIS ALBUM. Seriously, it's amazing. The first time I listened to it I honestly didn't really like it that much but then it just got better and better with every listen. I just love these girls. They're great. You better get this album or I will be disappointed. But don't forget to check out the other album I posted earlier.

Teargas & Plateglass - Black Triage

What's up? Today I'm posting two albums, this will be the first one (obviously). Teargas & Plateglass' Black Triage is a pretty sad, depressing album but awesome nonetheless. It's sounds like, oh I don't know.....Industrial Trip-Hop perhaps? Either way it's really cool, nice hip-hop beats with a dark, industrial and scary soundscape. Kind of dark ambienty. Check it out, peace!

Cutting Pink With Knives - Populuxxe

Alright, fourth album. Don't forget to check out the other three great albums I've already posted! Cutting Pink With Knives is what people would call a "nintendocore" band I guess, but this isn't as gay. I would say that it's indie-/synthpop + cybergrind. Yes you heard me. I know it sounds crazy, and it is, but this is a pretty good album. Very catchy and nice melodies clash with the rawness and brutality of grindcore. This may not seem very great, but at least check it out. I think it's pretty cool. What've you got to lose?

Earth - The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull

Hey, here's the third album (one more to go + today's post). This right here is probably some of the best "chillout" music there is to be found. An amazingly beautiful album. Earth is considered the pioneers of drone doom/metal, but on this (their latest release), the went for something different. Sunn O))) themselves are inspired by this great band, but this ain't no fridge metal. I would call it a mix of melodic drone, post-rock and a little bit of some good ol' country twang. This is a stunningly beautiful album and I think everyone should listen to this. Very awesome. And completely instrumental. Highly recommended (like most of the stuff I post :P).

A Place To Bury Strangers - A Place To Bury Strangers

Ok, second album for today, two more to go. This self-titled album is some sweet, awesome (as always), somewhat noise-rocky shoegaze/post-punk goodness. Kind of sounds like My Bloody Valentine meets Sonic Youth. I really recommend that you check it out, very good album.

Clark - Totems Flare

Yeah, I know I haven't posted a single album in four days. So I'm going to post at least two today to catch up. Also I'm sick (which is why I haven't updated), so you're going to have to do with shorter descriptions. I'm too tired to write long ones.
So, I've decided to post what is one of my favorite electronic albums of all-time (I know, it's only been out for like 4 months, but still). It's kind of hard to describe, so I'll just say fuckawesomely amazing IDM (dude's signed to Warp btw, so he has to be great). Just download it, you're gonna love it.

Bryan Scary & The Shredding Tears - Flight Of The Knife

Yo! Back with another great album. This time it's some really nice rock-opera, something you don't see very often these days. It sounds sort of like if David Bowie and Queen fucked and had a baby, then that baby (now grown up) fucked and had a baby with ELO; this would be the result. Sounds awesome, right? Well, guess what? It is. So it's kind of like psychedelic rock/pop I guess, very good. Check it out!

Sunn O))) & Boris - Altar

Ladies and gentlemen! Witness the greatest collaboration of all time; the masters of drone doom and the japanese gods of experimental rock team up for the most epic, awesome, incredible drone/post-rock you've have ever heard: "Altar". Ok, there are lots of other artist who contributed to this album, but Sunn O))) and Boris did most of the work (I think), so they get to take most of the credit. Either way it's brilliant, amazing stuff. So, now that I'm done with ranting about how great I think this album is, please note that if you do not like drone, you will probably not like this album. But if you like drone (and post-rock and/or shoegaze), I assure you that you will love this album. This is a goddamn masterpiece.

By Surprise/Hightide Hotel - Split

All right, back with the split. This is a split between By Surprise and Hightide Hotel, two sort of indie/emo rock bands, really good. It's six songs in total, so I guess that would make it a split EP?
Either way, it's pretty great and once again from two practically unknown bands. But that shouldn't stop from you checking this shit out! Oh, and the cover art is pretty nice, right?

Break - Return To The Temple EP

Shit yeah, time for some D'n'B! This here is the latest EP from Break, a great neurofunk/darkstep artist (I honestly haven't listened to his previous work, so I'm not entirely sure if he's done some darkstep other than a song or two on this EP). Anyway, this is pretty awesome and I strongly encourage you to check it out if you like Drum & Bass. I'm posting a split later today, since this is only an EP.

8-Bit Boys - 8-Bit Diagrams

Oh yeah. Now this is a badass album. This shit is unbelievable. I mean just look at the wonderful Wu-Tang pun in the album title! Nerdcore with 8-bit beats and lyrics exclusively about video games. I know what you're thinking; "Nerdcore, eww", right? Well, think again, because this shit is awesome. 8-Bit Boys is a side project with three MCs and one producer (?) (I'm just guessing here, really) by YTCracker, the "undisputed king of Nerdcore" as he calls himself and it is, as I mentioned earlier, awesome. I don't know what else to say, just check it the fuck out, goddammit. If you like hip-hop you will like this album (even if you might not like nerdcore). It's catchy as hell and...awesome.

October 9, 2009

East Of The Wall - Farmer's Almanac

The album for today is pretty hard to describe. I guess it's sort of a mix of post-rock (like Mono or Explosions In The Sky) and the kind of progressive metal that Opeth plays (this is completely instrumental though), with a hint of math rock every once in a while. Either way, this album is fucking amazing and if you have even the least bit of sense in you mind, you would to check this album out right away (unless of course, you happen to absolutely hate post-rock, math rock and prog rock/metal). However, it is a mystery to me that these guys are not famous at all, considering the awesome music they make.

Alcest - Souvenirs D'un Autre Monde

Today's album is from a great french (as you may have guessed from the album title), ex-black metal one-man-band. Actually, it's not so much "ex-black metal" as "never-became-black metal", as his first demo was raw, straight up black metal, but then begun playing more atmospheric/shoegaze inspired black metal. So this, his latest album, is a fantastic shoegaze album greatly inspired by black metal, most notably when the drums resort to blast-beats in the background at some points and there's also some black metal-style tremolo picking in one or two songs.
Wow, I just noticed how many times I've written "black metal" in this short, little text. Anyway, be sure to check this out. Awesome, beautiful album (Oh, and if you're not a big fan of harsh vocals, fear not; there are only clean vocals on this album).

Btw, does anyone think the little girl looks like a scary wax sculpture or something? :P

Best Friends Forever - Romance Conflict Adventure

You know, I was planning on posting something completely else today, but yesterday I gave this a listen not knowing what it was and found it to be amazingly good. It's twee as fuck too. So, basically it's really cute/awesome indie pop á la The Moldy Peaches, but with two chicks and one dude playing the bass, keyboard and drums instead. It's insanely catchy with great melodies and sort of anti-folkish lyrics, I strongly recommend this to any (indie) pop fan.

October 6, 2009

Aloha - Sugar

Hey, back with the second album, I thought I'd try to post one (maybe even two albums) a day as a sort of routine. This time it's "Sugar" by Aloha, a great (actually I've only heard this one album, maybe the other ones suck?) "indie" rock/pop band. Anyway, all the songs are really catchy and well-written, so it's basically just a great album. Not much more to say. If you're fan of stuff like This Town Needs Guns, Joan Of Arc, Owen, etc. (they actually sound a bit like a mix of these guys) you should probably give it a listen.

Clever Jeff - Jazz Hop Soul

Alright, first post on my new blog and I thought I'd post what is probably one of my favorite hip-hop albums ever. Jazz Hop Soul is, well, kind of a shitty name, but that doesn't make it any less awesome. If you're looking for some good, laid-back hip-hop with nice jazzy beats and amazing flow, then this is your album. In fact if you're even remotely interested in hip-hop you should get this terribly underrated (and unknown) album. Now.

ATTN: I've reuploaded the album and this time there seems to be no corrupt files. Happy listening :)
